Some Catchin' Up...
I'm a little behind here. Friday, Max and I took Nastia to her swim practice in Jesi and while she was there we walked around the old city portion. We noticed that there was a Palio in the evening so we decided if she was not too tired, we would go after dinner (at like 9, LOL). Costumed drummers and royalty paraded through the town, the sound reverberating of the buildings along the narrow streets. Pretty cool. Then they introduced the 4 competing families, or contrade, and the archer who would be the leader. Then they went to tp how knows where and we watched them race blindfolded with grocery store carts. Fun, but no horses. LOL
Saturday we went shopping at an outlet, a very expensive outlet. Really good stuff, Monia tells me, but it goes over my head. Then we walked around Senegalia, which is a beautiful old city. Someone had a Caddie for their wedding. After that, we had reservations at a not fancy looking beach restaurant with fab food. Max ordered for me because they wanted me to taste everything! I have to say, I alternate from being somewhat hungry to being stuffed. I don't quite have the "no snacks" think figured out. Tonight I was definitely stuffed..and delicious,
Looking at the pictures, I guess I got my hair cut that day too. In the "matina", the morning. Not just cut but highlighted and colored. FYI 70 Euro.
OK Then Sunday, I went in the morning for cappachino at Valentina's bar. In the afternoon we went to Jesi for the swim meet. Poor Nastia. She had two competitions, qualifiers actually. One she was second so no prob. The next there were only two swimmers, 400 meter, a long race of 16 laps. Well she has a habit of slowing down and then taking over in the last lap. This time however she counted wrong and took off for lap 15, won, stood up, and then realized she had one more lap. She still qualified. They don't really make a big deal of it here. They all laughed and moved on.
Then we went for gelatto which she eats pretty much every chance she gets. I got hot chocolate, which is really a melted chocolate bar. Thick and delicious, with no milk anywhere. Ok, basta for now. Ciao, raggazzi!
