Swimming the 7 Seas (or at least one more of them)
Fab day today. I'll get back to it. First yesterday.
Yesterday we were supposed to set up the camper in Senigalia but rain was predicted so we canceled. We all went down to the bar (read coffee shop) for morning coffee where word of my bunny/chicken mix-up had apparently spread, as my morning coffee design was a rabbit.
We had to go to the Catholic school to wait for class to end to give a friend her confirmation or graduation present or something. All kids in Italy are required to attend these classes, even non-Christians. We couldn't stay because we had to go to lunch. (Another only in Italy thing). Lunch was supposed to be those mushroom. BUT!!! After we picked them and Anna cooked them, she got nervous that one of the mushrooms may not have been good to eat. LOL So she called a friend who agreed and Massie said not to test them but to throw the whole batch out. So, we had these snail things instead. They are tiny so you eat dozens of them with a tooth pick and they are great. This is one of my favorite meals here. Anna is going to teach me how to prepare them next week.
Then we went to see a beautiful cave system much like Kartchner Caverns, Frassassi.
So back to today.
The weather was beautiful and it was decided to go to the camper and set it up. Their set up is ridiculously hard and complicated. We girls will sleep in the camper part and Massie will sleep in the veranda area. No idea how I will sleep because every 15 minutes? or so a train rushes behind us. Glad I packed those ear plugs.
Nastia and I went down to the beach which is just across the road. The Adriatic was cloudy, cold and light blue. No fish Then she and I biked to Senigalia which is a beautiful beach city a bit north of the campground. Biking here is a real treat. You wind your way around people clustered in crowds or just walking, call out "scuzzie", and go on. No one is bothered that you almost just ran them over. Actually people here are not set off by much that I can see.
More swimming, then volley ball. Exhausted, we got gelato (coconut and hazelnut for me please) and pizza with stracchino and radicchio. (Em!)
On the way home in the car, Monia told me I would be meeting a friend of theirs that is a self proclaimed savant and she asked me to talk really fast to him so he won't understand me at all and he will look stupid. Apparently he has been living in Tennessee for two years and brags a lot. First nasty thing I have heard here. LOL
Happy Mother's Day!
