The Great Cake Baking Affair

OK, so I am behind still! LOL Translating everything everywhere is tiring work! I am starting to talk to myself in Italian, however. Not sure what that means but it makes me laugh...Allora. When I first skyped with Anastasia and her family, she asked if she could decorate a cake. So I packed my smallest tiered cake pans, decorating tips and a box of cake mix with sprinkles in it. I also packed powdered sugar but that proved to be 2 pounds too much in my suitcase. Monday we did it. The cake part worked fine but for some reason the icing just slumped. Nastia loved it though. She tried all of the decorating tips and was very proud of her creation. The crew here is on a version of the Atkins Diet, but they all ate cake anyhow. That morning, Anna, Flavio, (the grandparents), and I had been to Flavio's acupuncturist appointment, which was pretty dang interesting. First of all, Anna invited me back into the room where Flavio was on the table. ???????? Okie dokie! He was cool with it and I now know what Italian men wear underneath. The doctor was from Syria and spoke decent English. At the end of the appointment, he gave me his card and invited me to work for him next time. OK, so there was a reason I diverted to this story. In the car, we were laughing because they don't understand a word of English and we were using sign language. At the supper table that night then, Flavio was telling Monia and Max about our conversation and at one point her teased me and, brilliant linguist that I am, I remembered the word for liar and called him out on it and we all burst out laughing. So thank you Loria crew for supplying me with random words. LOL
